Planning Tips

  1. The Parks Canada campground is the nearest to the park. There are several at the base of the peninsula. See the Campgrounds Map for more information.

  2. Nearby destinations include the Niagara Escarpment, Prince Edward County and Buffalo.

  3. Tobermory will offer most basic service and entertainment options. Larger municipalities for major service needs will be closer to the base of the peninsula.

  4. It is not far from the base of the peninsula to the tip, but it can be a very long drive due to traffic and roadwork. If you are intent on visiting the National Park for more than a day, plan to stay there and avoid a lengthy commute.

Highlights

The Bruce Peninsula extends into Lake Huron with the Georgian Bay along the eastern shore. The primary points of interest is without a doubt the Bruce Peninsula National Park and Fathom Five National Marine Park at the northern tip.

The national park offers features that include rugged coastline that include towering cliffs, caves, arches and other rock formations. There are also beaches, fens and coastal forest that are primarily accessible by foot.

Fathom Five concentrates on the waters and islands offshore. Scuba diving, paddling and boat tours can connect visitors with the rock formations on Flowerpot Island and some 24 shipwreck sites in the nearby waters.

Of course there are attractions on the rest of the peninsula. Coastal views, lighthouses and small, charming coastal villages are just a few of the things you will discover.

The Bruce Peninsula is a destination that demands several days to really explore. Any less will only result in regrets.
