Kouchibouguac National Park was established to protect a section of maritime plain and barrier islands along the eastern coast of New Brunswick. The park is a combination of forest, sand dunes, salt marsh and lagoons.
Harbor and gray seals can be seen along the coast and a black bear population inhabits the region. Kouchibouguac also preserves habitat for some 50 species of large and small wildlife.
Activities in the park include hiking, boating and fishing. Visitors also take advantage of some of the beaches on the coast.
Kouchibouguac can be a destination or just a stop between other points in Quebec, Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island.
