Planning Tips

  1. There are multiple campground options either near the badlands or not far from the interstate.

  2. Dodge City is the nearest destination, but the badlands are midway between Eastern Kansas and Colorado Spring.

  3. There are no major metropolitan areas nearby, but Oakley or Scott City will be able to provide basic service and entertainment needs.

Highlights

There is a Kansas state park that is the “home” of Little Jerusalem Badlands, but the eroded features extend well south to include the Little Pyramids formations and east to Monument Rocks. These formations are completely at odd with the surrounding prairie and farmlands.

The region is an ideal multi-day stop and it is close enough to Interstate 70 that it can serve as a perfect stop along the way. In any case this a section of Kansas that is totally worth checking out.
