Columbia River Valley—Washington & Oregon
Interactive Map
Planning Tips
There are plenty of campgrounds to choose from. It is personal preference whether you stay near Mount Hood or closer to the gorge.
The interactive map contains only a small part of what you can see and do in the area. I just wanted to keep it from getting too crowded.
Vancouver and Portland, on the western end of this area, are the obvious go-tos for services and entertainment. Hood River, on the eastern end, is another less populous option.
Highlights
This itinerary could more accurately be called the Mount Hood and the Columbia River Gorge, but that’s a long title. In any case, based on the proximity of Mount Hood, it is a place that should be visited along with the gorge and could take multiple days to explore.
This section of the Columbia River is known for its steep cliffs, waterfalls and wineries. There are points of interest on both sides of the river.
