  3. I was here in the summer and it can get pretty warm, but nights are cool. I stayed at Hyde Memorial State Park, which was an easy drive to downtown Santa Fe and at 8000 feet, it was very comfortable even during the day.

Highlights

Santa Fe, as a stand-alone destination, has more than enough attractions to keep you busy for more than a week. It is my favorite city in the the American southwest. At the same time, it is a perfect base of operations for exploring a vast array of other nearby attractions. I recently spent an very exciting two weeks here and left a lot on the table.
