Campgrounds in the Northwestern corner of the state are not central to the attractions, but are positioned in the more interesting hills and rock formations.

I have stayed at Lake Minatare State Recreation Area on two occasions. I found it adequate and centrally located.

Scotts Bluff is the largest metropolitan area and should contain most of the services you require.
