Highlights

Located on the western bank of the Red River, Fargo is the largest city in North Dakota. It has a thriving downtown and a modest arts scene.

The city is near a couple of national points of interest. Most notable is the Sheyenne National Grassland. It is the only protected section of tallgrass prairie in the United States and provides an essential habitat for the greater prairie chicken.

Fargo is a perfect stop along the way if traveling on Interstate 94 and can be a nice base of operations for a short stay.
