Highlights
Cape Cod extends into the Atlantic Ocean along the Southern Massachusetts Coast. This long, hooked peninsula is known for its beaches, abundant lighthouses and coastal towns and villages. In season, this is one of the state’s most popular tourist destinations.
Near the end of the cape is the Cape Cod National Seashore, which protects 40 miles of Massachusetts seashore. In addition to beaches, the national seashore preserves space containing cranberry bogs, lighthouses and a variety of cultural artifacts.
At the very tip of the peninsula is the coastal resort town of Provincetown. It is widely known for it beaches, restaurants and active arts community. The town is a destination in its own right.
Cape Cod offers all the options of a perfect summer beach getaway. If you want to avoid the crowds, the spring and fall fringe seasons may be a better option.
