Planning Tips

  1. This is one of the most visited parks in the United States and requires timed entry unless you are staying in the park.

  2. If you are staying in or Yosemite, you will need a reservation. There are several forest service campgrounds at either end of the park that do not accept reservations.

  3. September/October and late April to early May are the least crowded unless you want to visit during the winter.

  4. There are some services in Lee Vining, to the east, but Sonora, west of the park, is the largest municipality with most of the services you may need.

To say Yosemite is popular is something of an understatement. It is by most measures the busiest national park in the United State and that is for a reason. There is a lot to see and the sights are spectacular, to say the least.
