Flaming Gorge—Wyoming & Utah

Planning Tips
The southern half of Flaming Gorge has a little more to offer relative to things to see, but both are worth visiting.
All of the campgrounds in this area require reservations.
I stayed at Buckboard Crossing in the north. It is very well maintained and the high desert is beautiful, but it is little remote. If I return, I will look further south.
Green River or Rock Springs are the larger municipalities in the north. Vernal is the largest in the south. All will offer service and entertainment options.
Highlights
This recreation area is very large and covers parts of two states. It is probably fair to divide it into a northern and southern half, because availability of points of interest, nearest city and even topography depend very much on where you decide to set up your base of operations.
