Highlights
The Bighorn National Forest includes parts of the Bighorn Mountains. It is an alpine area offering opportunities to explore its many canyons, rock outcroppings and waterfalls. The forest is rich in wildlife including, black bear, elk and moose. Hiking, fishing and camping are just a few possible activities.

Planning Tips
In warmer months, I recommend staying at a Forest Service campground at the higher elevations. (Almost all federal campgrounds can be reserved 6 months in advance).
If traveling from the east, this can easily be a stop on your way to Yellowstone or other points west.
Sheridan, Wyoming is the the closest large municipality for service and entertainment options.
