Planning Tips

  1. There are a limited number of government campgrounds in the area. Sherando Lake is one of my favorites, but camping in the national park is also an appealing option.

  2. Charlottesville is the largest municipality in the region and it will contain all of the entertainment and service options you may require.The area around Old Faithful is probably the busiest part of the park, just allow extra time if you are planning to visit that area.

  3. There are a lot of exceptionally good wineries in the area, but I have identified only my favorites on the map.
