Highlights

Lake Meredith is home to two national resources.

Lake Meredith National Recreation Area is a 10,000-acre lake on the Canadian River in the Texas Panhandle. Primary activities in the recreation include camping, boating, fishing, hiking and hunting.

Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument preserves a site that was used by Native Americans for mining flint to fashion weapons. This site was used dating back to the earliest Clovis cultures, who hunted mammoths during the Ice Age. Abilates flint was found throughout the western US, which indicates the importance of this site to early American cultures. The Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument was established in 1965 in order to protect the site. Today the site can only be toured as part of a ranger-led tour.
