Highlights

Western Sonora is a land of varied geography. It is made up of desert, mountains with deep canyons and a coastal region along the Gulf of California. It is an intensely beautiful part of Mexico.

Hermosillo is both the capital of Sonora and the state’s largest city. Resting in the plains of central Sonora, it is at the edge of the region making up this destination.

The coastal region is stunning. Smaller cities, like San Carlos, offer options for exploring the gulf or relaxing on the beach.

Between the capital and the coast, the mountains and canyons of the Cayon of the Devil Special Biosphere Reserve offer another area to explore.
