Highlights

Situated in the rolling hills of Eastern South Dakota, Sioux Falls is the state’s largest city. The Big Sioux River flows along the eastern edge of town and a waterfall on that river is the feature from which the city draws its name.

The city experienced a renaissance cultural interest. The most obvious sign is the downtown sculpture walk, but art and entertainment events are a key feature of this urban center.

The river also offers recreational opportunities. Primary among these are paddling, fishing and hiking along its banks. The nearby Big Sioux State Recreation Area is one of many places to access the river.

Depending on where you stay in relation to Sioux Falls, Pipestone National Monument can be an easy day trip.

If you are passing through or looking for an interesting place to spend a few days, Sioux Falls can be a destination or a stop along the way.
