Planning Tips
There are not many campgrounds in the immediate area, but I stayed at Paris Mountain State Park and found it perfectly located and well maintained.
Greenville is just large enough to offer any service or entertainment options you might need. It is also small enough that traffic is not a huge issue.
Highlights
Greenville, South Carolina is a lovely small city with a beautiful, tree-lined arts and entertainment district in the heart of downtown. It is also a great base of operations for exploring some of the sights in Northern South Carolina and Southern Tennessee.
The Biltmore estate is a nice day trip and the historic Carl Sandburg home is nearby. Also be certain to visit Cowpens and Kings Mountain National Battlefields, which were great Revolutionary War victories for the patriot forces.
