Delaware Water Gap—Pennsylvania & New Jersey
Interactive Map
Planning Tips
There are a variety of camping options available. No New Jersey park has hookups. See the Pennsylvania parks or the national park options if you desire hookups.
Stroudsburg at the southern end of the Delaware Water Gap is the largest urban area offering services and entertainment. Matamoras and Port Jervis at the northern end are other options.
Highlights
Along the Pennsylvania and New Jersey borders, not terribly far from New York City, the Delaware River has sliced a steep valley through a ridge of the Appalachian Mountains. Waterfalls flow down the steep walls of the gap and scenic overlooks are everywhere.
This section of the river was set aside as a National Recreation Area to preserve it for recreation. Paddling, hiking, fishing and rock climbing are just a few of the available activities.
Plan to stay at least a week and really explore this extraordinary region.
