A ferry runs from Cape May to Lewes, Delaware, if you want to avoid the large-city snarl around Philadelphia. The tradeoff will be the much slower state highways through Delaware.
Highlights
If you mention the Jersey Shore, it may conjur memories of an old reality tv show of the same name, which is unfortunate. The shore is primarily a family destination with beaches and tons of evening entertainment options.
Atlantic City has seen better days as a gabling mecca, but the boardwalk and beach are still lively and worth a visit. It is also the largest local city and offers many options for visitors that include restaurants and shopping.
