Planning Tips

  1. There are a limited number of government campgrounds in the area. The Park Service campground on the cape is ideal, but make reservations well in advance.

  2. If you have access to military campgrounds, there is a nice (but small) RV park at the Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City. See the Military Campgrounds map for more information.

  3. All of the municipalities on the cape are tourist oriented, but you should be able to find most services in Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head or Manteo (on Roanoke Island).
