Hannibal, Missouri is the boyhood home of Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain) and was the inspiration for much of his writing. The town honors Clemens by setting aside numerous local points of interest. Visitors can gain a sense of what life on the Mississippi was like in an earlier age.
