Planning Tips
There are only a couple municipal campgrounds close by and one is in Canada. Remember to bring a passport, if you intend to cross the border. Private campgrounds may be another option.
It is important to note that Voyageur NP is a series of lakes and most campgrounds can only be reached by boat.
There is not much that can be seen from the shoreline. Bring a boat, plan to rent one book a tour.
International Falls is the nearest metropolitan area and should have most service and entertainment options. Outfitters, rental agencies and tour services will be here and at several spots in between.
Highlights
Established in 1975, Voyageurs National Park is headquartered in the town of International Falls, Minnesota. It consists of a maze of interconnected lakes and waterways running along the Canadian border. The vast majority of the park can only be reached by boat or on foot, but several welcome centers can be reached by road. During winter snowmobiles, skis or snowshoes can be used to access the interior.
If you do not have a boat, consider using guide services or local boat rentals to access the main park.
