Lake Michigan Circuit

Planning Tips
Campgrounds have been added to the map for each of the recommended stops. Many more campgrounds are near the lake. So if you intend to add stops, check the Campgrounds Map.
There are too many nearby destinations to list and many of the stops on this circuit are destinations in their own right. See the Destinations map for more information.
Every recommended stop on this route will be able to provide nearly all service and entertainment needs.
The route as prescribed is obviously up to your discretion. Stop and end anywhere you like. I avoided Chicago because of traffic and toll roads, but it is a matter of personal preference.
Highlights
Lake Michigan is the only great lake that lies entirely inside the United States. The lake’s 1400 miles of scenic shoreline offer access to cliffs, dunes, beaches, lighthouses, historic lake towns, wildlife refuges and much more.
The prescribed route for this circuit is set out in a series of stops, but there are a few things to keep in mind.
You can do this in either direction and use any point as your starting point.
There are absolutely things to see in between the prescribed stops.
This route is only a suggestion. Feel free to improvise.
