There are three state park campgrounds in the valley. Other, more distant campgrounds can be found on the Campgrounds Map.
Danbury or Hartford will meet major service needs. Smaller towns like Kent or New Milford will be able to provide basic services and entertainment requirements.
Highlights
This mostly rural northwest corner of Connecticut rests in the Housatonic River Valley. The region contains a patchwork of state parks, natural areas and reservations.
Throughout the river valley there are historic towns and villages, local artifacts and and numerous scenic overlooks.
This is a natural jumping off point to visit sites further north in the Berkshires or to the west in the Hudson Valley.
