Planning Tips

  1. BLM lands are everywhere in this part of the state and offers more options for exploration. Grand Mesa, for instance, is full of natural arches. Be aware that four-wheel-drive and a lot of clearance are needed to go off road in most of these areas.

  2. I stayed at James M. Robb State Park, which was well maintained, close to many attractions and right next to Grand Junction, which I found to be a very nice city.

  3. Grand Junction is the largest municipality in this part of the state and has most shopping and entertainment options. If you stay closer to Black Canyon, Montrose is another option for services.
