Planning Tips
There are a handful of provincial parks in this part of British Columbia. None have hookups, but the temperatures are relatively mild.
Chilliwack is the largest municipality where visitors will find most service and entertainment options.
Highlights
Flowing from its origin in the Rocky Mountains, the Fraser is the longest river in British Columbia. Near the town of Boston Bar, the water has carved a steep, narrow gorge. Hells Gate is a particularly famous portion with a an aerial tram that allows visitors an unobstructed view.
As you continue downstream, the river widens and offers opportunities for paddling and fishing. You can also view the many waterfalls created where confluent streams and rivers cascade down to the Frasier.
The Trans-Canada Highway follows the course of the river providing travelers with views and access points. This makes the Southern Fraser an excellent spot to hold up for a few days or even take a short break between destinations.
