If you are eligible to use military campgrounds, there are four in this area. See the interactive Military Campgrounds map.
There are a multitude of services and entertainment options that include Biloxi, Gulfport, Mobile and Pensacola.
Highlights
The beaches and wetlands along the central gulf are really worth visiting. I spent a couple weeks in the Biloxi area and loved my stay.
There is no shortage of things to see near the coast. They range from historical to natural. The numerous old forts, lighthouses, beaches and bayeux are too numerous to list.
Of course the the Gulf Islands National Seashore helps preserve the beauty and undeveloped nature of much of the coast and nearby islands. It’s many hiking trails, historic sites and beaches are well managed for current visitors and future generations.
Regardless of season, this is an area that has much to offer.
